TOUR ITINERARY
Early morning set off to Lake Victoria for our boat trip to Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary, home to 40 orphaned chimpanzees. It is an incredible place to view them in a lush forest setting while helping to conserve their precious habitat and contribute to the conservation of their species. We watch a morning feeding and the chimps’ interactions with each other and with their caregivers, then listen to an informative talk by the sanctuary staff. After lunch (and maybe a swim in Lake Victoria) we return to Kampala for the evening.
An overnight stay at Ngamba can also be arranged which allows participation in the special Forest Walk and Caregiver Experience activities (extra cost). The Forest Walk allows you to join a group of baby chimpanzees and their caregivers on a one hour walk through the forest. The Caregiver Experience lets you care for a baby chimp for an entire day, including feeding, preparing food, medical checkups and whatever is happening that day. Special vaccination restrictions apply.
