TOUR ITINERARY - THE CHIMPANZEE ENCOUNTER
3 days Primate Tracking encounter in Kibale Forest National Park, [Accommodation at Ndali Safari Lodge/ Kibale Primates Lodge]
Day 1: Kampala – Kibale Forest National Park
After breakfast we’re off to Kibale National Park located in Western Uganda. Kibale protects over 700 square miles of moist evergreen and semi-deciduous forest that harbors the greatest variety and concentration of primates anywhere in East Africa. It is home to 13 primate species including over 1400 chimpanzees, red colobus monkey, the rare L’Hoest’s monkey, the grey mangabey, pottos, black faced vervet monkeys, baboons and bush babies.
Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking Adventure
Early morning, report to the Kibale ranger station for an exciting morning of tracking chimps and other primates through the forest. A network of trails allows us to follow them on their travels and provides delight for butterfly lovers and birders, too, with 335 species of birds recorded in the park. We may
also spot forest elephants (smaller cousins to their savannah counterpart), forest buffalo, giant forest hogs and a half dozen different antelope species.
Day 3 : Kibale – Kampala
After breakfast, tour Fortportal’s major cultural heritage tourist attractions: Tooro King’s Palace, the major seat for Tooro Kingdom, Karambi Royal Tombs, burial site for the kings (Abakama) of Tooro, and Amabeere ga nyinamwiru at Nyakashura. Depart for Kampala arriving late afternoon.
